Notarize your documents in minutes. Quick, easy, and hassle-free.

QUESTION: What type of documents do you notarize online?

ANSWER: We notarize just about every type of document, aside from a small handful of exceptions; please see a list of exceptions below. Nearly all documents that can be notarized in hard copy can also be notarized with our online process.

In an online notarization, both you and the notary electronically sign the notarized document. Per federal and state laws such as the ESIGN Act and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), when both sides agree to perform their transaction electronically, electronic signatures are just as valid as handwritten signatures for virtually all documents. But, certain documents are excluded – see below. Also, some states, public agencies, and court systems impose additional requirements and limitations for accepting electronically-signed documents, so it’s always important to check with your intended recipient to confirm their specific requirements for accepting electronically signed and notarized documents.

We currently do not notarize (online):

  • Marriage Licenses
  • Documents for use in Iowa
  • I-9 Forms
  • Certified true copies of birth, death certificates, or some court-issued documents.

QUESTION: How do I sign my document?
ANSWER: Do not sign your document before you upload it to Dotted Line Signings LLC.  We use electronic signing (e-signing) technology that requires no additional hardware on your end, just your keyboard.  When you are in session with a notary, you will e-sign by typing your name onto the document. We embed a number of security features into the document to protect the validity of your signature. The legal validity of e-signatures is well established by the ESIGN Act of 2000 and UETA.

QUESTION: Can you notarize a document that is not in English?
ANSWER: No, we would require that you have it officially translated; sign and stamped to confirm it was translated by an approved translator.
